Inspiring others is a vital part of helping them develop. You cannot teach something you do not model and apply in your life. We must develop a growth mindset and make intentional decisions to strengthen it daily. This means facing challenges with a positive attitude and seeing them as opportunities for growth.
Working with preschool children is a great responsibility and an opportunity to influence their developing minds. At this age, they believe and absorb everything they are told, making it essential to model the right behaviors and beliefs. I strive to instill in them the importance of a growth mindset, understanding that learning is a process and making mistakes is a natural part. I encourage them to practice, persevere, and understand that it is okay to say, I can not" yet."
When evaluating their progress, I stress the importance of honesty with oneself, acceptance, and self-improvement. I teach them to avoid comparing themselves with others and to focus on their personal goals. This has helped them to develop better attitudes towards feedback and results.
Unfortunately, the growth mindset is often reduced to a motivational speech. It is essential to understand that it is not just about having a positive attitude but about accepting challenges and facing fears, anxieties, failures, and multiple setbacks. We must master our minds and develop skills through persistence and hard work. Everyone has a different pace and path towards success, but developing a growth mindset is the first step towards achieving our goals.
